January in a Nutshell Part 1 OR A Bomb Cyclone & a Jinxed FL Vacation

Alright, I don't know what happened, but January flew by and there were a lot of good (and some not-so-good) moments in there.  Rather than write a bunch of individual posts about it, I thought I'd cram everything into 2.  Because I am kind of eager for January to be over with, tbh.

It's been of a blur of yummy breakfasts...

Snowy discoveries...

(I'm guessing those are rabbit tracks, but I know nothing about rabbits.  Or tracks.)

More snowy nights...

Hosting my very first wedding here at the Bevin House for some truly lovely people...

And an awesome snowstorm that is actually called a BOMB CYCLONE.  How intense is that?  Granted, I did type it in all caps...

Soon it was time for my FL vacation!  But the morning of my flight I woke up with an awful stomach flu and was miserable for about 4 hours.  Fortunately, I recovered in time to finish packing and make my flight.  Unfortunately, my flight got delayed.  Again and again and again.  I ended up waiting at the airport for 6 hours, still feeling weak and exhausted from that morning's stomach flu.

I finally reached Orlando just after after 2 am, and thank goodness I have an awesome sister who was willing to pick me up (even with 2 very awake toddlers in tow).  Seeing the look of excitement on Ryder's face when I walked up to the car and getting to cuddle them a little before we all finally went to bed at 5 am was priceless and made all the trouble worth it.

Felt okay the next 2 days and we spent a lot of time playing, snuggling, talking, laughing, and watching movies.  Even went for a brief trip with the gremlins to the beach.

Friday I woke up with a new kind of flu--the really gross
"sore throat/fever/chills/achy/stuffy/runny/exhausted" kind that's been going around.  Both of my parents had it when I arrived, so I figured it was just a matter of time.  I pretty much stayed in bed for three days, only emerging to eat/drink/take meds and feel sorry for myself.  But the saddest part was that Ryder got it too, and he was so sweet and pathetic with his round little face--sniffling and coughing and in general just looking like a tired zombie.

After a few days of that, we were all feeling better, and by Tuesday we were at Disney.  One of my bff's, Kelsey got to come too, and it was a cool day with some of my favorite people.  It's also the first time in a long time that I got to spend time with all of my siblings with no interruptions from old or tiny humans (no offense to mom, dad, and the gremlins).  Btw, don't be fooled by Cody's salty face in this first pic, he is actually lovin' it.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day and I had such a nice time with everybody.

Before I knew it, my FL was coming to an end, and because of being sick, I lost out on a lot I'd planned to do and visiting with a few good friends.  The silver lining was that I actually missed Connecticut.  I missed the beautiful Bevin House and the snow and my cozy little room and my new friends.  PLUS, my brother was coming back with me for a visit, his first time flying...

Saying Goodbye...

I am writing this post almost 3 years after I took this picture, of a bouquet my lovely friends in my writing group gave me as a fare...
