CT Sisters Trip - Part 4. A Day in Mystic!

One of our movie nights was "Mystic Pizza," because Shan had never seen it.  It's one of those movies that though it isn't "good," there's something nostalgic about it and you can't help but get caught up in it.

Our first stop was at Mystic Aquarium, which for some reason Shan was obsessed with going to...

I've been to plenty of aquariums, but this one was pretty awesome.  And they had lots of cute Halloween decorations up everywhere, which added a touch of whimsy.

Shan bonded with the penguins...

and we just had a fun, silly time :)

By the time we were done, we were starving, so we drove downtown and had lunch at Mystic Pizza.  "Mystic indeed..."

Then we went where I've been wanting to go since I moved here, Mystic Seaport.  It was way bigger than I expected, with over 50 attractions (museums, historic homes, exhibits, etc.).

I loved it, but Shan & Brit will probably remember it as the time they were waiting for me in the gift shop forever because I was still wandering around looking at exhibits ;)

Lots to see, but still managed to get in some silliness...

Shan & Brit couldn't understand why I was so interested in the exhibits (and why I was taking so long), but they never took Dr. Cluff's Herman Melville class :)

This was the beginning of the end... i.e. the point at which Shan & Brit were like, "we're leaving, hurry up."  Bahaja!

I learned how rope used to be made...

and saw the ship storehouse...

And here's an adorable old man :)

Eventually we left and went back downtown, where we browsed the shops a bit and shared an ice cream and a hot chocolate :)

Got home and had another night of movies, puzzles, and girl talk.  Probably stayed up a little too late, considering that we had to get up at 4 and leave by 4:30 to get to the airport.  I thought it would be hard to say goodbye, but it's strange... I haven't been emotional for any goodbye's lately.  It's certainly not because I don't miss them.  It's more like I know I'm where I'm supposed to be right now.  And I still feel so connected to each of them, which is nice.  But if they all want to move here someday, I'm okay with that :)  It sure was nice having them here and sharing my new life with them.  And if anyone else wants to pop by, you know where I am.

Saying Goodbye...

I am writing this post almost 3 years after I took this picture, of a bouquet my lovely friends in my writing group gave me as a fare...
